ABEL PANN

 
Abel Pann – born in Latvia 1883. Studied at art school in Odessa 1898.
In 1903 moved to Paris , continued studies, exhibited in the Salons and contributed to journals. In 1913 travelled to Jerusalem and taught at the Bezalel Art Academy.
When the First World War broke out, he returned to Paris, and painted war subjects, including pictures depicting French patriotism,  and also a series of drawings and lithographs of Russian pogroms. In 1917 travelled to USA, and in 1920 returned to Jerusalem to settle permanently.

Taught in Bezalel Academy, and in 1921 began producing lithographs. Over the coming years he painted chiefly Biblical themes, and many beautiful illustrations of the Bible. Held many exhibitions in Europe. He died in Jerusalem 1963.

 

אבל פן  - נולד בלטויה 1883. למד בבית ספר לאומנות באודסה 1898. בשנת 1903 עבר לפריז, שם המשיך ללמוד להציג בסלונים, ולצייר עבור ז'ורנלים פופולריים. בשנת 1913 נסע לירושלים ולימד באקדמית בצלאל

כאשר פרצה מלחמת עולם ראשונה, חזר לפריז וצייר בנושאי המלחמה, כולל המאמץ המלחמתי הצרפתי, וגם סדרה על הפוגרומים ברוסיה

בשנת 1917 נסע לארצה"ב , וחזר לירושלים 1920 על מנת לגור שם . לימד באקדמית בצלאל , ובשנת 1921 התחיל לייצר ליטוגרפים.  בשנים הבאות צייר בעיקר נושאים ודמויות מהתנ"ך, ואיורים לתנ"ך. הציג בתערוכות רבות באירופה. נפטר בירושלים בשנת  1963
