David Rakia was born in Vienna 1928 and immigrated to Israel 1938. After the War of Independence studied with Ardon, then at the Betsalel Academy. Studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris 1955-60. Returned to Israel 1960. Began series of drawings based on Hebrew letters, held exhibition in Tel Aviv Museum 1961. Since 1967 Jerusalem has become a central theme of his work, exploring the patterns of light and the contact with the mystical experience. His works have been displayed in more than 100 exhibitions all over the world.
