Israel Paldi was born in 1892 in the Ukraine and immigrated to Israel in 1909. Studied in Betsalel Academy, then returned to Europe and studied in the Munich Academy 1911-1914. Returned to Israel 1921, and painted many portrayals of people living in the country. He lived in Paris 1958-60 and moved towards expressionism. Paldi’ together with Nahum Gutman Reuven Rubin, and Tsiona Tagger belonged to a group known as the “Land of Israel School”. The group specialized in portraying the Land of Israel, its landscapes and people, with strong emphasis on the brilliant light and colors of the Land. Paldi received prize for stage set in Paris 1926, and Dizengoff Prize 1953, 1959. Participated in Biennale in Venice and Sao Paolo. Passed away in 1979. Throughout his career exhibited his works in many Museums, including the Tel Aviv Museum and the Israel Museum.
